First - this truck has been de-smogged and currently does not pass CA emissions test. The price is lowered to reflect that.
However, other than that this truck is in amazing shape and has been very well maintained. This truck is the truck featured in everythingFJ60.com. I bought the truck from that owner in 2014, and have driven it while I lived in Austin Texas. It has always been reliable, and I would drive it almost every day. I just moved to CA and didn't realize the strict emissions so I'm looking to sell this at a lower price to someone who doesn't mind doing the work on their own.
I have done preventative maintenance on the car to keep it in great shape. I have a pile of maintenance records of everything I've done to the truck including:
- Front steering knuckles rebuilt
- Steering gearbox replaced
- New clutch master and slave cylinder
- New engine belts and engine tune-up
The previous owner also has had the air conditioner rebuilt to modern standards and it blows cold even on a hot day.
The inside upholstery is in great shape - I drove the truck with car seat covers on (included) so the seats look amazing still. All the seats look great, although the drivers seat has some wear in it. The top does not sag at all. The only blemishes are there are a few cracks in the dash-padding. The rear area has a hard rubber cover on the floor.
The outside is the original paint - Freeborn red. It has it's share of small knicks and it is fading on the roof and few small spots on the hood. I've thought about re-painting it, but I like the old classic look it has. My mechanic actually told me not to paint it because some people prefer the look of it. From a distance it looks almost brand new, still shiny as you can see from the pictures.
Anyhow - this thing is amazing and I get compliments on it all the time. It breaks my heart to sell it, especially at such a low price, but my loss, your gain.
There is room to hook up another battery and AC plugs and USB ports are in place as well as an MP3 jack, but I just never got around to hooking it up. The radio is original.
